A better fit for the way you ride

Electric or gas?

Both belong outdoors. The right choice depends on your route, access to charging or fuel, rider and cargo weight, and what you want to hear along the way.

What mattersElectricGas
Sound on the trailFar less motor noise—useful around the property or while moving through the woods. Tire and terrain noise remain.Engine and exhaust sound are part of the ride and are easier to hear from a distance.
Ready to goPlug in where you park. Plan charging time and confirm the outlet and charger each model needs.Refuel quickly if you have fuel on hand; take extra fuel for longer days where permitted.
RangeLimited by battery capacity. Rider and cargo weight, hills, mud, speed and temperature can change how far a charge lasts.Limited by the tank and available fuel. Weight and terrain also affect fuel use, but refueling can be quicker on extended trips.
Rider & gear weightA heavier rider or more gear uses more energy, especially on hills or soft ground. Do not assume a quoted range applies to every rider.A heavier load also increases fuel use and can change handling. Stay within the model’s confirmed weight limits.
UpkeepNo engine oil changes, but tires, brakes, suspension, battery and electrical components still need care.Engine service and fuel system upkeep add tasks, alongside tires, brakes and suspension.
Power feelElectric motors can deliver torque immediately. Acceleration and hill performance depend on the motor, gearing, battery and total load.Engine response and hill performance depend on the engine, gearing and total load.

Questions riders ask

Why electric now?

For shorter rides on a farm, hunting property or trail system, quiet operation and charging at home can be compelling. There is no exhaust where you ride, and electric drivetrains usually have fewer routine engine-service tasks. Before choosing, confirm the battery, realistic range for your use and charging setup of the exact model.

Will an electric vehicle be silent in the woods?

It is much quieter without a running gas engine, but it is not silent. Tires, suspension, brakes and occupants still make noise. Slow down around people and animals; quieter vehicles can be less noticeable to others.

When does gas make more sense?

Gas can be a better fit for long days away from a charging source, frequent back-to-back rides or work that calls for quick refueling. Compare the actual rider weight limits and terrain performance of the models you are considering.

Does rider weight make a difference?

Yes. A 300 lb rider plus gear asks more of either vehicle than a 150 lb rider on the same route. For electric vehicles, that added demand can reduce the distance available from a charge; for gas vehicles, it can increase fuel use. Hills, soft ground and stop-and-go riding add to the demand. We do not have tested range figures for these particular vehicles at different rider weights, so we will not promise a mileage number.

Is electric always cheaper to own?

Not automatically. Electricity may cost less than fuel for a comparable ride and routine engine maintenance is generally lower, but the purchase price, battery replacement terms, electricity rate and how often you ride all matter. Ask for the battery warranty and replacement availability.

How do I compare two specific vehicles?

Compare confirmed rider weight limit, battery or fuel capacity, motor or engine output, charging or refueling needs, service requirements and warranty. Ask how range or fuel use was measured and with what rider load. We will post model-specific figures only when the supplier confirms the exact configuration.

General comparison informed by the U.S. Department of Energy and its guidance on electric driving range and maintenance. Actual off-road vehicle performance varies by model.
